Attack of the Slorgs Guide
Written by Shapu
1. The game repeats itself
While this sounds overly simple, it's actually really important. Various levels
have different play styles, but that doesn't mean you have to always be
wondering what's happening next. Actually, the fact that there are only 6
distinct maps is a huge help.
2. Multipliers are worth points
Again, devilishly simple. The best levels to set up multipliers are levels 1, 2,
and 4. Just pick two colors (I like green and brown) and assemble as many groups
of two as possible. Then, find the middle, fire an appropriate color, and kapow!
Two hundred points. If you can't seem to put a Slorg where you want it, break up
one group of two (so, go from GGBBGGBB
with a G in the gun to
GGBGBGGBB),
and then fill it out.
3. Assemble groups of two
Beyond the multiplier bonus, this just makes sense. If you have many different
groups of twos in many different colors, you have lots of different places to
put your Slorgs.
4. Don't use gray
You never get enough of these to do anything. Just shoot them off to the side.
5. Crazy Frog Bonus!!
Is worth 25 points!! And you can get it twice by shooting twice!! In a row!!
6. Know your powerups
Blue - Slorg Block. I consider this useless unless you're REALLY in trouble. I
usually get rid of it.
Green - Slowdown. Very important!
Brown - Super Slorgerizer. Nice. Takes out two slorgs on either side, so shoot
it into a crowd.
Red - Multislorg. Bad, unless you're bored or suicidal.
Pink - Slorg Destruct. Wait until the very last minute to fire this.
Gray - Puddle Water. I actually consider this more valuable than Slorg Destruct
("What?!?!?!?" you ask). Fire this when a level is about half-full with Slorgs.
Let's say you get green, so all of the visible Slorgs are green. Then pick two
more colors (Red and Brown for this). Set up a multiplier cascade (that is...go
from GGGGGGGGGGG to
GGGGRRBBRRGGGG).
Shoot the very middle group (Brown, here), to get an X2 multiplier on your Reds,
and an X3 multiplier on half a level's worth of Greens. Blazam. This can be
worth up to 240 points.
7. Revenge of the Slorgs!
When I get this powerdown, I usually leave the computer for a while and restart.
It's simply too difficult to reprogram my hands to operate in the correct manner
again. Going from normal to reverse is hard, but going from reverse back to
normal is even harder. Give up, come back in a few minutes.
8. Laser Failure
You'd think that if you're willing to build a complex laser-guided system to
repel everyday garden pests, rather than just buying some salt, you'd think to
make the laser a bit sturdy. But apparently, that's too hard for a critter with
no opposable thumbs. Just gut it out - after a while, you'll get used to where
you're aiming, and it won't be difficult to get past this one at all.
9. Luck
As with all games, luck plays a huge part. If you have good luck, and decent
skills, getting 1000 np per play won't be difficult. If you have great luck,
trophies should be a piece of cake.
10. Extra life
An extra life is always nice. Type "marrow" to get one. You only get one extra,
so don't spend all your lives in one place.
