Here are some guidelines for Blackjack:
0. If you get Blackjack, you'd be an idiot not to stick.
1. If there is absolutely no way your opponent can get higher than you without hitting, stick. (You: 17. Opponent: 6 showing. Stick.)
2. Remember, there are four times of cards that represent 10 than any other card. Always assume 10 is going to be your next card, because out of 52 cards in a Blackjack deck, you have 4 10s, 4 Jacks, 4 Queens and 4 Kings. That's 16/52 cards, or about 4/13 times you'll get a 10. The probability of getting any other card is 1/13. That goes for your opponent as well.
3. Stick on 17 and above. Hit on 11 or below. The numbers in between (12, 13, 14, 15, 16), you should hit about half the time, and stick about half the time. Whether to hit or not, it depends on Rules 1 and 2.(If your opponent is likely to get something higher than you, hit. Otherwise, stick.)
