How to Never Get Scammed

1. Never tell anyone your password, or change anything on your account, even if
you are asked to. If they say they will give you items, neopoints, codestones,
etc. don’t believe them. Also don’t to tell your siblings or friends ( real life
ones or Neofriends ). The Neopets Team will never ask you for your password.
2. If you suspect anyone of being a scammer report them immediately by email to
Abuse@NeoPets.com - especially if they
keep asking for your password.
3. Always change your NeoPets password at least a once a month. Also try to keep
it in the Number(s)-Word-Number(s) or Word-Number(s)-Word format or another
fancy format that’s pretty easy to remember, or you can use the password
generator on
http://www.winguides.com/security/password.php, which is pretty much
unbreakable. Examples drespu5p, fake456password.
4. Don’t enter your NeoPets password and Username on a fake login page. It IS
easy to tell, just check your active neopet, to see if it is right.
5. If someone tells you to change your email in your User Information, do not do
it. Once you do it they can get your password by putting your Username in the ’I
forgot my password’ box on the login page.
6. Don’t hire a NeoSitter when you go on vacation or hiatus. Instead send your
pet(s) to the Neolodge. The NeoSitter is most likely a Scammer or will steal
your account.
7. If a price in a shop looks to good to be true and when you click on it your
sent to login page it’s a scam. Believe me I fell for that one when I was
starting out.
8. If someone asks to share their account with you if you share with them, say
no and report them. UNLESS they’re your real life friend or a good NeoFriend
then just say no.
9. You will get frozen for having shop contests, or advertising on the NeoBoards.
10. You will get frozen for swearing ANYWHERE on the site.
12. Do not be fooled by people sending you Neomails saying that you have won a
competition. Any TRUE competitions will be reported in the NEWS section of the
front page.
13. There is NO way to make NPs quickly, it requires WORK.
14. Don’t fall for adverts on the boards that say if you buy an item from their
shop they will send you an item in two hours, because they transfer the nps to
another account and when Neopets freezes them, they get off scot free.
15. Make sure you keep up to date with the email address on your profile because
if you ever get a new email account, and you forget your neopets password, you
can’t get into your account because the "forgotten your password" form box will
not work.
16. If you accidentally break these rules, explain to neopets on this page :

unfreeze your account if you contact them about it.
17. Trojans, and things in that vein are illegal and the police can arrest you
for it. Trojans are like viruses, they sneak onto your PC in programs that
normally have been downloaded off the net, and sometimes copy every letter you
type, and send it to someone else; this type is called a keylogger, and is an
invasion of your privacy. If you know someone that gives out keyloggers, report
them to an adult, and they can be arrested.
