You Filthy, Little, Brat

I had a friend that I met in my guild Adopt Painted Pets, lets call her Veen. I
met Veen when I put my Baby Aisha up for adoption in the guild's database. She
sent in a well written request to adopt her, very well written, about three
neomails long.
I looked Veen up and she had 3 baby pets, a big shop, and a nice, well-rounded
account. This, I said to myself, this is the perfect owner! Well, little did I
know...
A few weeks later, I let her adopt my aisha. She was so thrilled that she gave
me an old account of hers with Lab Ray, because I had mentioned that I was
planning to buy it later that day. Of course, I absolutly fell over myself when
she said I could keep the robot peophin that was in the account too! So she gave
me all of these wonderful things, and in another few weeks, we were "best
neofriends".
I really trusted Veen, so I came to her asking for help. I wanted to move my
pets into the new account she gave me, and I needed help with it. Veen told me
that she had two servers, so she could do adoptions by herself, and she's never
missed.
I was really pleased at that. After chatting a bit, she did the transfer. I
logged in, all my stuff was still there. Phew! I thought, I knew she was sweet!
But the next day, I was talking to my other friend from the guild, a very
well-to-do and respected Neopian that I'll call Tiffy. Tiffy told me that she
had let Veen adopt dalijubby. dalijubby?!? Veen doesn't own any pet named
dalijubby! I mused.
I told Tiffy this and she unwound a long story about how Veen adopted him from
her and then abandoned him out of the blue. Nooo, couldn't have been Veen...
said I. After all, she was so sweet!
Another week passed. I kind of avoided Tiffy, because I don't like people that
falsley accuse my friends! Any time I tried to reason Tiffy, she stubbornly
stood by her claim. Whatever.
That night, I logged on Neopets, and -WHAM!!- I couldn't log on! I tried to get
my password back, but it wouldn't come! I looked up my account, and the info was
all different. No! I thought, I'm not a male from Brazil, I'm a female from
Nebraska!! My shop was empty. My pet was gone! I neomailed that account from a
spare one, and, acting like I was a total stranger, got my hacker's AIM. That's
when it came. Veen did this to me. The AIM was different, but familiar.
I was so upset that I went to my guild and posted that I was quitting. All of my
friends, including Tiffy, sprang to help me. About 17 people reported Veen, we
all ganged up on her over AIM. I had never felt so loved... but being loved
wouldn't help me get my account back. I told Veen that if I get my account back
from this hacker, I'd let her have my baby peophin, a pet she was after.
Magically, the guy gave it back.
After another few days, the account was hacked again, by Veen once more. I
totally gave up on it, and created a new one. My guild friends also clued me
into something: Veen was one of the most hated people ever. All these neomails...
"Veen stole my plushie paint brush!", "Veen abandoned my baby kau!", "Veen took
my three baby pets!", and "This girl, Veen, took my baby lupe!". Apparently Veen
had a thing for baby pets...
Now I look back and see how stupid I was. Veen's pets were always changing, that
should've said something... I just didn't want to believe that Veen could have
done anything wrong! I lost everything to her, but I was eager to begin again...
but first things first, I apologized to Tiffy for never believing her about Veen.
I now know who I can depend on, and also that expensive gifts and free accounts
don't get my trust. Or my password.
