Trading Post - Hints and Tips to Happy Trading
Written by biggerhips
If you were wondering why I have wrote this article it is because I have been getting fed up with people offering me items on the trade which
are no where near that real price. Also when I have been searching the trades I see a lot of trades which have no description so I have no
idea what they would like or even if they want anything (some people do store things there). So to sort it out, and to give me a chance to calm
down a bit, I have wrote this article to help those on both sides of the trades.
‘Starting a trade’
When you want to start a trade you can of course just put nothing in the box and just tick the items that you want to trade. This method is
quick but I have found with expensive items such as a ‘Red Ixi Morphing Potion’ (which is about 200,000np in trades at the moment), will get
silly offers such as a couple of strawberry jellies and 1000np, which is no where near its real price. In order to stop these offers appearing
you need to put a description, for example: ‘around 200k in Np or items’ this is very specific and unlikely to get very many offers, but if you
want that much for the item and nothing less then it’s fine to use although be around the real price. If you don’t want to be that specific
try putting ‘or ono’ at the end this means ‘or nearest offer’ giving those posting a trade to you a chance to go a bit lower or maybe even
higher if they are nice!
Another problem that appears when I have put up my trades is the time difference. I came on the other day to find that someone had put in an
offer on my trade and removed it about half an hour later this was about 4.30pm in Neopian standard time but half an hour past midnight for
me, I tend to be in bed that time so I wouldn’t have a chance to see it. With this problem maybe saying which time zone you are from or country
would give those offering some patience knowing that we are asleep. In the end my description for the Red Ixi Morphing Potion would be; ‘
I would like 200k in Np/items, or ONO p.s. I am in the UK please expect a delay in an answer.’ I believe this would give those looking a good
idea of what I am looking for.
‘Putting an offer on a trade’
When putting an offer on a trade its always best to check to see if there is a better value for money trade else where, but don’t forget to
check the shop wizard too. This is also good as you will know how much to offer. Always make sure your offer is reasonable, as many check the
shop wizard for prices and wont be fooled into selling cheap. If there are more than one item and you only want one, why not check on how much
they are as well in case you can get them as well, if you have enough money, if not send a polite neo-mail asking if they would consider a
trade with the item you want only and if they say no then don’t worry there’s plenty more trades around.
Quick tips for putting up a trade
- Look in the shop wizard and trades for same item so yours so you can see what price the item is at.
- Put a description in of what you want to get good offers.
- Make sure your description is reasonable.
- Check all offers that come in on the shop wizard/trades before accepting/rejecting.
- DON’T send items through the ‘give to neo-friend’ option, you may not get anything back, just use the trade centre.
