Whack-A-Ghost! Guide
Written by lyraa

I'm an old neopets user, and I've gone though a lot of games. This game is probably the easiest game I've ever come across when it comes to making your full thousand neopoints per play. Plus, it is just fun!

When you start a game, you'll just have to deal with the one-whack petpet ghost, and all of your controls will be completely normal. You use the keypad and hit the key that corresponds to the tombstone with a petpet on it. Don't worry about the numbers in the right-hand corner, just worry about where the ghosts are showing up. If you see a ghost in the bottom-middle grave, hit the bottom-middle key.

This is pretty important- When you are hitting the ghost pets, make sure that you only hit them as many times as you need, and no more. You'll lose a heart if you hit a grave without a ghost on it. Later on, you will also see hearts, coins, and treasure chests coming out of the ground. The treasure chests require two smacks- one to "open" it, and one to get the treasure- but the coins and hearts only need one.

Once you've made it through three rounds, the orientation of the keys changes! This is where the fun begins (at least for those of us NOT using laptops- if you're one of them, your job is far more complicated). You'll have a moment before you begin your round to see how the keys have been rotated. You'll have the numbers seven, four and one corresponding to the bottom three graves. This is a relatively simple problem to solve. Rotate your keyboard so that your keypad is far from you and the caps lock is close. You'll have the keys oriented correctly now. Just treat the five like the center grave as always, and play as if the 7,4 and 1 were the 1,2 and 3 from before!

The next level is odder. The 7,8 and 9 are the front tombs. This means that if you want to continue with the orientation you had before, you need to flip your keyboard upside down! That's right. With your f-keys closest to you and your spacebar on the far side. Now just play the same as before, just with the keys above your fingers rather than below. Remember to keep that 5 key where you can find it, because if your fingers get off now, you can't see to fix it! Luckily, most keyboards have a bump on the 5 key that should make that easier.

At this point you're dealing with multiple types of pet that require different numbers of whacks to get rid of. Just count your whacks in your head instead of going nuts on each one to keep your lives.

Once you make it through this level, which is probable the hardest, you're on to the 3,6, 9 level. That means you should put your keyboard down and face it so that your keypad is closest and your caps lock is far away.

The final level is back to normal, with one exception. You now have to be on the lookout for skeletons that display a number on a sign. Hit the keypad number that the sign shows, and you'll what the skeleton! The petpet ghosts are still corresponding by region. Top-left key to top-left grave and so forth. By this time you should have well over 500 points, and because you get two neopoints per point in this game, you'll have made your thousand!

Now getting on the high score chart is another story...
