Round Table Poker Guide
Written by Liver2_1
When playing poker you need to predict what your opponents are going to play in
order to maximize your np and chance of winning. For example if a person discards 3 cards they have a high card - pair. They will bet on a high pair.
Things to look for:
If your opponent discards 3 cards - They are most likely to have a high card to pair, they can get a hand from this so look at their pictures!
If your opponent discards 2 cards - They are most likely to have a three of a kind and very rarely a chance of four of a kind.
If your opponent discards 1 card - They are most likely to have a two pair, you only have to watch out for a full house really on this.
If your opponent discards 0 cards - They are most likely to have a flush,
straight, full house or straight flush (generally bad news so unless you have a full house or higher, fold).
Bluffing:
If you have a high card you can still win (Warning, only do this if you are
confident that this will not lose the match for you). Check on the first round and then watch their faces and the number of cards they discard, if they all discard 3 cards and
don't smile they can be bluffed. This is easier if you are last, let them check and put a 20np bet in. If they have poor hands better than yours or worse, you can
guarantee that they will fold, leaving you to collect winnings you shouldn't
have - you sly devil you!
Card Moves:
- You have a high card and no visible straight or flush, what do you do? Discard all cards except your highest card. This will leave you either in the same
position having the same high card or it can leave you with a hand of any possibility.
- You have a Low pair (such as 2 twos) what do you do? Discard your three spare cards and look for a three of a kind, two pair or full house. If you fail, this keep the bets low unless you are on the last
move. Try to check to the end. You are unlikely to win this hand but if you keep yourself in there you might get lucky.
- I have a high hand, how can I maximize my profits? If you go last this isn't a problem but if you go near to first then you need to bet in the first round of betting and look at the faces of the other contestants.
If any smile or discard 2-1 cards, check and let them make the first bet, raise them and they will raise with you. You will then win (unless you misunderstood which hands are higher) and earn the maximum amount you can.
- I have a very bad hand and someone just bet what should I do? Fold and don't waste np on a lost cause.
- It's the last hand and I'm 100-150 np behind what now? Bet on the first hand, try to maximize your chances of a good hand and then if you still
can't seem to get ahead, bluff and pray that you can get away with it :)
- It's the last hand and I'm only 10np behind what should I do? Watch the person
who's closest to you, if they have a bad hand try to force them to fold or bet, if they bet you get yourself out by folding and leave them to the mercy of people with better hands.
- I'm only a few np ahead and I've got a bad hand! What do I do? If the person closest to you seems to have a bad hand, fold when someone bets, they wont be able to catch up because they
don't have a good hand and you can just sit back and wait for the victory message.
- It's early on should I try to bet or hold onto my np? Early on you need to separate
yourself from your opponents, bet on two pairs and high pairs (such as a pair of aces). You
usually pull it off but if someone discards only a few cards, don't put money on it unless you have a good hand.
Remember the most important thing is this game of poker is predicting what your opponent is going to do!
Good luck!
