Round Table Poker Guide
Written by faerie_wanderer

I will explain the hands and how much you should bet on each and then I will explain some basic guides to which cards should and should not be played.

Hand Explanations
High Card For example 3 - 5 - 7 - 8 - A (the ace is the high card)
One Pair For example 3 - 3 - 5 - 8 - 9
Two Pair For example 3 - 3 - 5 - 5 - 9
Three of a kind For example 5 - 5 - 5 - 6 - 9
Straight For example 10 - J - Q - K - A (this is an ace high straight the best possible straight)
Flush For example 3 - 4 - 9 - A - Q (all these cards must be suited i.e all hearts)
Full House For example 4 - 4 - 4 - K - K
Four of a Kind For example K - K - K - K - 5
Straight Flush For example 10 - J - Q - K - A (all these must be suited i.e all clubs)

How to Play the Cards
High Card
Ok this is a common hand to get. If you get this dealt to you, you should just try and check round until you can discard your cards. Always discard the lowest 4 cards, if you have four cards that need one more to make into a straight just discard that one card. Often you will have to lay some np down on this hand but never lay down more than 20 np on it. If you have to lay anymore down than just fold the hand and save your np. If after discarding your cards you still only have a high card try and check it round again. As soon as someone bets fold the hand.

One Pair
Ok also a very common hand. Never play a pair that's under 8 as the chances of winning are low. I rarely play pairs unless I am feeling particularly brave or stupid depends how you look at it. Do not put more than 40np on any pair ever it just isn't worth the risk.

Two Pair
This is a slightly better hand and can quite often win you some np but you still should never put more than 60 np on these hands.

Three of a kind
Ahh now were getting to the good hands. These should always be played but different amounts of np should be spent on different ones. If your hand is a hand of anything under 9's than you should only put a maximum of 80 np on it. If its over this then you can place a maximum of 100 np on it.

Straight
You should be happy to get this hand. If you get this no matter how high or low it is you should put a minimum of 100 on it and a maximum of 120 on it.

Flush
Ok this is a very good hand. I recommend betting at least 120 on it and a maximum of 140 on it.

Full House
This is a brilliant hand and you should just keep betting and betting. I have rarely lost with this hand.

Four of a Kind
Almost unbeatable. I have honestly never lost with this hand. The chances of another player having a four of a kind is extremely low and the only hand that can beat this is either a better four of a kind or a straight flush. Straight flushes are so rare in all my time playing round table poker and my time playing poker with my friends in real life i have only seen maybe 5 of them and I've been playing at least 6 years. If you get this hand bet everything possible.

Straight Flush
Like I just said the rarest hand of all. If you get this hand bet everything I mean everything. Bet your np your favorite pet your parents and anything else that is in arms reach.

Sadly this game requires an awful lot of luck. Real poker means you have to read people and bluff well but in this game, reading people is pointless (especially as there reactions seem random) I have seen computer players have happy faces when they have only a high card. What cards you get are luck and that's how it is.

A good guide to what computer players have is what they bet. If you are unsure what a computer player has try raising if they don't raise they rarely have anything better than 2 pair. If they raise they usually have something like 3 of a kind but it could be anything so remember that.
