Transferring Pets
Every once in a while, a person may decide they either want to transfer a pet.
Either to give to a friend or to send to an extra account, the risks of actually
losing your neopet is very high. For instance, once I tried to transfer a Tonu
to my spare account. I had a friend already lined up to click accept. There was
a one second delay in the abandoning in the pound and the final pickup, however
in that second, someone else had jumped in and taken it. I of course neomailed
that person and asked if I cold get my pet back but the person ignored me. If
you do plan to risk losing your pet, hopefully this article will help minimize
the risk. Remember however that Neopets cannot help you out if you do in the
event, lose your pet.
Firstly, the best method is to have another friend logged into the account you
want your pet to be accepted. Have your friend enter the pound, and type in your
pet's name in the search box ready to pick up. Make sure that your friend has at
least a cable internet connection. Next, you log into the pound also in your
account, and as you release your pet into the pound, tell the other friend
immediately to click enter, and pick up the pet. The best way to do this is with
an online chat client such as ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, MSN etc.
If all goes well, it should be fine and congratulations! An important note is to
also make sure the receiving account has money to pay for the adoption fee :)
Here is another tip submitted by chinslave on how to transfer pets.
If anyone is interested to know this, I found a way to transfer pets by yourself
relatively safely. What you do is open two different browsers such as Internet Explorer and Netscape. You can be logged into two different accounts at the same time this way. You then go to the faster browser (if there's a difference in speed) and go to the pound search and type in your pet's name. Then you go to the pound on the other browser and get it all set up to put your pet in the pound. Go back to the browser for the account you are transferring to and make sure you have enough nps to adopt your pet onto this new account. Then go back and quickly put your pet in the pound and
immediately go over and click the search button on the other browser and click on your pet as soon as they show up. I safely transferred Blue_Majesty_ and sweetie_KK using this method. Granted it's not fail-safe but it is probably the safest way to transfer. It is also best to do this between 12 and 2 am neopian time as there are less people on then.
In the event that you do lose your pet, you should neomail the new owner
immediately and explain nicely the situation to them. If you look at the
following examples below, you should receive a fair indication on how to behave.
"GIVE ME BACK MY PET YOU @*)$&#@)&$"
Obviously, if I saw this neomail after I adopted a pet, I would ignore it. No
one wants to talk to a person who insults them.
"Hi, how you doing? I recently tried transferring my pet but there was a
mix-up and you picked up my pet. I am really sorry about all the trouble. Is it
okay if I receive my pet back?"
If I saw this, I would of course give the person his/her pet back. Any
half-decent person would. See how much a nice attitude helps?
Sometimes, the person can be a real jerk and not give up the pet. In this case,
the best method is to offer neopoint incentives. For example, I will give you
10k if you give my pet back. This usually also works but please keep in mind
that if you swear, chances are the person will block you, report you and get you
frozen, or simply demand more. Make sure you don't sound desperate or else the
person will demand a higher price. Talk in a calm and collected way and work
your way up. In most cases, people will understand if you explain it to them and
hopefully, your pet transferring will be successful :)
Evidence tip
Submitted by Daniël Diedericks zoo_maniac@hotmail.com
A good idea is to find a cheap petpet, and give him to the pet you want to transfer. Name the petpet: reserved to ________. When put into the pound, they can clearly see to whom this pet belongs to. Any half decent person would return it
immediately. The reason for the cheap petpet, is quite obvious: If you where to "equip" a krawk to your pet. Your pet would just be raided for your petpet, and that is quite sad.
NOTE: This will only work when you look-up the pet on the search engine. But when the people look on the quick ref page they will see it, and you will have some proof.
Alternative method

When I, Neo34479 transfer my pets I use the best and possible way. The direct link. What is that you say? Well, its a link
http://www.neopets.com/process_adopt.phtml?pet_name=PETNAMEHERE
that you use when you want a 99% chance of getting your pet. How do you use it? Well, you enter the pets name you want to adopt and replace the PETNAMEHERE. Then, you refresh the page over and over as soon as the person who is helping you
releases your pet into the pound. After, the pet SHOULD go to your account. Now, if it is a baby pet then I suggest going on 2 AM NST when there are not much people on.
Same for krawks but remember, don't stop refreshing until your friend tells you
to stop.
Extra evidence precautions

I've transferred a couple of pets. Although I lost one once, the person gave my pet back
simply because there was evidence. First of All: Take a screen shot of your pets on the disown page, so the person who
has taken your pet has evidence that you once owned it. Put on its Description: Your username and that you are
transferring the pet so please don't adopt it. I hope that helps, Thanks!
Do-It-Yourself transferring

If you have more then one type of browser (explorer, netscape) you can log
into another account with the the other browser at the same time! So on one
browser, you can log in and type in the pets name at the pound, and get ready to
press search or something right after u sent your transferring pet into the
pound with the other browser!
