Whack-A-Ghost! Guide
Written by meresged

Whack-a-ghost is a relatively easy game to play, once you get the hang of this. My guide should work out a few of the kinks, and make it easier and more enjoyable for all. This game provides an easy 1000 points per play, so long as you can score 500 or better. After reading this guide, scoring 500 should as easy as collecting free omelette!

First of all, Ive never tested my theory on another computer, but it will work for any computer that is not a lap-top. This will make sense as you read my technique guide. There are moving keyboards involved that lap-top users cant use. For those unfortunate people who cant use the full benefit of this guide, you can use tips and instructions in the Level Guide for levels 1-3 and 13.

Basic information:
You have 10 lives, which are the pink hearts at the bottom. Hitting a live petpet, a skull, or a grave with nothing rising out of it loses life. Hit a pink heart, available in treasure chests, rising out of graves, or sometimes after ghosts die, to gain a life. Keep as many lives as you canthe game gets difficult later!

Getting Started
1) BEFORE YOU START: There are two sets of control you can use in the game: numbers or letters. The numbers are a lot easier to use than the lettersthey are lined up straight, rather than a diagonal challenge presented by letters.

The game options will automatically set numbers as your controls, so dont worry about changing anything. Make sure Num Lock is on. Its the top right button by the number panel on your keyboard. There should be a little green light somewhere on your keyboard that will light up when its activated. You WANT the green light, so if its out, hit the button to turn it on.

2) Press start and begin. The first set-up of the keys is easy they keyboard should be facing you. Start hitting those ghostsbut make sure you only hit the ghosts! They are the transparent things popping out of the groundtheir creepy red eyes are hard to miss!

Dont forget to pick up any piles of coins, or hearts you see.

Coins are worth considerably more than the ghosts, so if its a decision between one or the other, go for the coins first! Ghosts dont disappear very fast, so you should be able to pick up both.

Level Guide
Level 1: straight-forward. Hit the petpet, dont hit the empty graves. Get as many as possible in 30 second time limit.

Tips: To save time, you dont have to wait until a ghost is fully risen before hitting it.

It is possible to hit more than one petpet at a time, but takes really good coordination.

Level 2: Fallie ghosts are introduced, which take 2 hits each. Again, get as many as possible in the 30 second time-limit.

Level 3: Skulls! Dont hit them!

Level 4: First rotation. Okay, dont let this scare you, as long as you have a keyboard, not a lap-top, this is easy. Simply pick up your keyboard, and rotate it. The key order on the game is listed as follows:

963 So obviously, you want 963 at the top of your keyboard. Other than being

852 a little awkward to use, the controls are still perfectly lined up with your

741 graves, so play as normal! Also, treasure chests are introduced. Hit them once to open, and once to collect the item. Chests hold hearts or coins, so they are VALUABLE!

Level 5: Introducing the loveable pink petpet. Dont hit itits alive! Keep an eye out for chests, coins, hearts, or ghosts, but leave the petpet and the skulls alone!

Level 6: New item: a ghost that requires 3 hits. Same as usual.

Level 7: The trickiest rotation. The keypad now reads as follows:

321 Unfortunately, theres no simple keyboard rotation for this one. If the keyboard is

654 upside down, the keys are backwards. If its right-side up, the rows are switched.

987 Find what you like bestalthough I tend to use my keyboard with the space bar facing away from me, and keep thinking over and over that the numbers are backwards. The right side of the number pad corresponds with the left of the graves, and the left numbers to the right graves.

Some gamers find it easer to return the keyboard to its normal position, and think of the top row of numbers as the bottom row of graves, and he bottom row of numbers as the top of graves.

Whichever is easier for you, just keep thinking over and over to yourself Dont forget, the keys are backwards. It will help you concentrate!

Level 8: A new ghost, requires 4 hits.

Level 9: Same

Level 10: The keyboard rotates again. This time, move the keyboard so that the number pad is closest to you, and147 is across the top. Play as you did for levels 1-7.

Levels 11 and 12: Same keyboard position and game play as level 10.

Level 13: Move your keyboard back to the original position. This level is a little trickier, but I always think it is more fun. As the one-eyed instruction skeleton between the levels states: you have to hit the number the skeleton holds up. For example, if a skeleton jumps out of spot 1, then holds up a sign with the number 5, hit a 5 to defeat him.

You will still be facing ghosts, skulls, treasure chests, and petpets this level.

TNT doesnt seem to have worked out all of the kinks on this level, sometimes youll be hitting a ghost, and losing lives. Keep an eye on your lives. If you are hitting a 4-hit pet, but you lose a heart the first two hitsJUST STOP! Youre losing lives, and you wont, if you just let the pet go. This level is sort of hard to get the hang of, but really fun.

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU BEAT THE GAME! Collect your 1,000NP and spend it wisely.
